None of the above

SickOE, the only big disagreement I have was deciding that Bush was the one that "isn't as fucked up as the other choice" Yes Kerry was a terrible candidate, only topped by Gore on the awful candidate meter. My case for Kerry was made brilliantly on the blog Kerry Haters for Kerry.

Pretty much the only reason is that he's not Bush.

Even better at showing the lack of a choice in a comical way was the Jib-Jab Video, This Land. Did you ever see that? Was hysterical.

But comedy aside, there was ample evidence that Bush was not just a moron and a lyar, but surrounded by some of the scarriest people to surround a president since Nixon. You're going to give a guy with a record like that another four years to fuck things up more? No way. I threw my vote away in 2000 and voted for Nader, because I couldn't stomach voting for Gore OR Bush. After seeing Bush in action for four years, I would have voted for anyone over him the second time. Even Gore, probably. Kerry wasn't quite as bad as Gore.

Yes, I think the Republicans have been taken over completely by the right wing since Reagan's time, but I think a good many of true Conservatives have real problems with Bush's foreign policy too. Have you listened to Pat Buchanan lately? He's a right wing nut job at times, but really a pretty smart guy. I actually like to listen to him. He's does a better job than any Democrat at coherently trashing Bush's policies.

I don't think the Democrats have been taken over by the left, as much as they just don't know what the hell they believe in. They were much more to the left back when they were running candidates like McGovern and Mondale, than they are now. Clinton brought them back to the center, and if he hadn't "blown" his opportunity, and then saddled us with Gore, the Democrats could have been that more centrist party that we desperately need.

Talk radio, and cable news shoutfests have been the other dividing point. Common ground doesn't make for good ratings. Just put on a couple loudmouths like Rush and Hannity who will throw out a handful of cliches over and over again to fire up all the "fat and stupids" (actually I think the quote was fat, DRUNK, and stupid) and just sit back and watch the stupidity spread.

I'm tired. Let finish talking this over next week at Kitten's.
